PostSubject: A Healer's Touch (PV Saayri)   Fri Oct 19, 2012 10:39 pm

Eleven rings. Eleven in the evening. How long has she been in here with these political papers? as she massaged the bridge of her nose, she leaned back. It was that late already. Her studies were never done, it seemed.

Sighing, she closed the latest issue of The Golden Prophet and stood. Good timing too, she was down to her last candle. Using the last bit of light from it, she lit the new candle and extinguished the old. 'Time for bed.' She thought, switching the candles in the holder and beginning to put everything away.

She may be eighteen, but studies where never done. As she made sure everything was put away neatly, she made sure to mark her places. She'd have to pick this up again in the morning after the first set of prayers. Yawning she headed out, her heels making a soft tapping noise on the floors.

Sometimes she wondered who's bright idea was to put the library in the basement where there was hardly any natural light and where sound traveled so lightly one could barely hear it. Not like there was a way to move it, but she had half a mind to scold them at their grave. The more sensible half of her mind won and she continued on her way.

The central staircase was still a ways off when she felt a chill run down her spine. Holding the candle aloft, she saw that one of the doors was left open. She walked over, her mind so distracted with closing the door and of the political matters she had just read that she didn't hear the sound of someone just outside of her field of vision.

The war had left her with a broken spirit and a diminished pride though neither were as painful as the empty socket where Saayri's right eye had been.

The pain was a constant seesaw. One day perfectly fine, the next a living hell. Today was one of the very bad days.

She had woken to a skull splitting headache and every time there was a loud noise she gritted her teeth together and clenched her hands into fists to keep from screaming in pain.

Every time her heart beat a fresh wave of pain flooded her skull and every time tears blurred her already lacking vision.

Finally, after going and buying three glasses of cheap wine and drinking them, she rode the shuttle to the moon to the temple.

It had been rather easy to sneak in, being that it was late and people rushed to get home to their "perfect" lives. The seadweller had stayed quite, her tattered pride and dulled mind agreeing that asking the help from the humans was quite undignified but necessary.

The minutes became longer and Saayri closed her eyes, the pain becoming less and less when the bells started, marking the time. Each toll brought a fresh lash to her skull and she pressed the heel of her hands onto her temples, trying to block out at least a little bit of the pain.

Out of her tear filled eye, Saayri saw a blurry light appear. Silently, she glided out of the room and into the shadows, watching the figure.

As they came closer, the corner of her lip twitched. Lady Luck was on her side for a brief moment after all. She began walking, or rather stumbling, towards the healer and hastily covered her wound with one hand, knowing that people usually didn't react nicely when seeing it.

Tentatively, she stepped forward but paused. What was she suppose to do, simply ask this little fragile human for help?

"Hello Healer." She said, her voice seeming a lot more neutral and icy then she meant it to be.

She jumped a bit when she heard such a cold voice from the door and almost dropped her candle in shock. She reclaimed her hold on it and looked at the newcomer. She looked worn, the scars telling her of battle. Probably from the war.

Jane's ears perked up at the term 'healer'. So, it looks like this troll was seeking some help with the scars. Lifting the candle up above her head, she inspected her new guest. Luckily, there was an empty room nearby.

"Is it just the eye you'd like me to look at, or is there anything else you would care for me to examine?" She asked, noting that she wasn't in the right mind and let her in. She only hoped the visitor wouldn't think to see fit to slice her head off after the treatment. Some trolls enjoyed doing that; she silently prayed this one wouldn't do much but get patched up and be off.

Saaryi's lips twitched upwards when the girl jumped, causing the Seadweller's uneasiness to ebb away.

However, the girl didn't show as much fear, or respect, as she had hoped. Instead, the healer was almost happy to be helping a troll who was almost a foot taller than herself, who could easily end her life and not even flinch.

Mulling over the girl's question, Saayri nodded slowly, her hand still cupped gently over the gently throbbing socket where her right eye had been long ago.

"I have no other injuries...Only my....eye. Can you fix that Healer? Or shall I have to give you a momento for being inexperienced?" Her voice wavered and her words jumbled together slightly, giving away the fact that she wasn't sober and much calmer than she would have been without the past alcohol's help.

She brought the candle a bit closer to inspect the socket, grimacing slightly. The blood was trying to pool into the hole and of course she was probably feeling an immense amount of pain. The slurring in her voice also told her how much the troll had taken, if only to get this far.

She gulped and nodded at the question, covering the candle with her free hand. "Y-Yes, I can heal it. It might hurt, but I do have a few things here for that. Please come inside." She looked around outside in case she had a friend waiting and shifted away from the door. She pulled the door closed behind the troll after she entered and led the way to a small room, usually used by the trainees when doing research on new healing techniques.

She set the candle on the table beside the bed and bowed hurried at the troll as she began to search around for some tools she'd need. There was a clatter of jars as she pulled them out and inspected the labels in the dim lighting. 'Healing salve, wheres the healing salve...' She squinted at the labels before she found a familiar green leaf imprint on one.

She put everything back and began her search for the other supplies. She only hoped the troll wouldn't think she was taking too long. She found a flask of what she could tell was brandy and placed it beside the seadweller.

"This should help numb you a little more while I start the procedure. It wont be much longer before I begin." She explained, her eyes showing a hint of fear for her life if she didn't hurry.
